North Dalmatia

Bounded by the dramatic cliffs of mountain Velebit and the breathtaking scenery of Krka waterfalls, Northern Dalmatia is the vivid foliage of diverse flora and fauna. It is the home of three national parks (Krka, Kornati, and Paklenica), two nature parks (Telascica and Vransko jezero), and numerous archaeological sites witnessing the existence of the ancient Illyrian culture at the ground of today’s modern cities.

High temperatures, clean sea, and serene beaches make Northern Dalmatia one of the most popular destinations. Start your visit with Zadar, a city often called little Rome in Croatia. A great walking tour can also be done in Sibenik which, unlike any other city in Croatia, has two sights on the UNESCO list. If you prefer islands, don’t miss Kornati National Park. Prepare yourself for relaxing scenery, and time reckoned from sunrise to sunset. Islands also hide one of the most beautiful beaches in the county such as Sakarun at Dugi Otok.

The best time for a visit is from April to October. During that period most of the small family farms are open for visitors giving you the opportunity to try prosciutto or delicacy pasticada. Just like the taste of the local gastronomy, coral necklace or orange sibenska kapa are unique souvenirs from Croatia to remember your travel.
